NC fighting a losing battle to get Assembly elections deferred

Srinagar, Oct 15: With Election Commission of India yet to take a call on the Assembly polls in J&K, ruling National Conference is making all out efforts to get the polls deferred so that it can manage to some extent the strong public sentiment that exists against it, while on the other hand the opposition parties are desperate to get the elections announced without delay so that they can make political purchases on the prevailing anti NC sentiment.
After National conference senior leaders, Ali Mohammad Sagar, Nasir Aslam Wani and Davinder Singh Rana tried their best to motivate Deputy Election Commissioner of India during his visit to Jammu and Kashmir last week to defer Assembly elections for some time citing flood devastation, according to experts NC patron, Dr Farooq Abdullah and party President, Omar Abdullah smelling a historical defeat to NC in upcoming Assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir too used all their contacts from Kashmir to Delhi to motivate Election Commission of India to defer elections for some time.
Failures of coalition government which according to experts came to fore after September 4 minimized the number of expected seats of NC and degraded the image of the party even among its age old followers too.
Despite the fact that congress is equally responsible for government failures in Jammu and Kashmir during and post floods, experts believe that congress which usually focus on few seats in Kashmir division may also lose its traditional strength this time keeping in anger among common masses particular among those people who usually vote and are among the flood affected lot of Kashmir yet it may not prove a major disaster for congress which manages to compensate from Jammu and Ladakh division unlike NC.
Omar Abdullah who according to experts could not motivate anybody in New Delhi to defer elections may now speed up the pace of relief and rehabilitation in coming days particularly in Srinagar to get some breathing space among NC's noted bastions, yet political opponents of NC enthusiastic to contest elections are actually eying on NC Bastions and have ready with the tool of "Government failures" to cash and gain vote bank ahead of NC in NC bastions.
