Teachers, students confused over timings of exams | | | Sandeep Bhat
Jammu, Oct 15: The teachers as well as the students are confused in valley on the timings of examinations. Two orders by the government on the issue have further confused the students. The deputy Chief Minister Tara Chand who also heads the Education Department ordered conduct of examinations for Matric, eleventh and twelfth on time in Kashmir valley. But on the same day another order postponed the exams to March, thus creating confusion among the teaching faculty and students across the valley. The wedge between National Conference and Congress deepened. Though commissioner/Secretary Education Nirmal Sharma in a statement said that as per cabinet order the exams will be held in the month of March. She further said that earlier order is quashed, but the confusion still prevails as no reason has been given for the withdrawal of earlier order. Talking to Early Times, principal of a private school in Srinagar said that the government is itself not clear on the issue and postponement of exams will not go well with the students. "Most of the schools have completed the syllabus in August and students are ready for timely exams. No doubt, the floods caused havoc in Srinagar, but now the schools are functioning well and both teachers and students are prepared for the examinations," he said. Shahid, a class 10th student said that majority of students across the valley want exams on time. The teachers as well as the students are in favour of appearing in exams on time, rather postponing it to the month of March. Most of the private institutions across valley favour holding of exams on time. |
