POONCH, Oct 15: A man was wounded and atleast 10 houses suffered damages in the heavy Pak shelling on the Line of Control (LoC) in Sabzian sub-sector here today. There was no firing on the LoC overnight. In the morning, its troops resorted to heavy shelling and gunfire, targeting Sabzian and Shahpur areas at about 8.45 pm, according to official sources. Fazal Hussain (60) sustained splinter injuries after a shell exploded near his house at Sabzian. He was admitted to primary health centre, Sabzian. The enemy fire, which continued for nearly five hours, stopped at about 1.30 pm. The Pak troops also heavily shelled Kirni from 9 am to 2 pm. India retaliated effectively, the sources added. Sources said there were reports of at least 10 houses having suffered damages in the enemy shelling. Loss, if any, on the Pak side was yet to be ascertained, sources said. Pak had yesterday targeted 10 Indian posts and villages along the LoC in Poonch. "As Pakistan has been trying to infiltrate militants under the cover of fire, a round-the-clock vigil is being maintained all along the LoC to foil any such intrusion bid," the sources added. |
