J&K Govt releases funds in favour of FC Revenue under NPS

Jammu, Oct 15: Taking cognizance of a story published in October 3 edition of Early Times titled Open discrimination with Jammu region, 9 months on, BOPEE selected Patwaris of Jammu sans salary, Jammu and Kashmir government has released an amount to the tune of Rs. 175.14 lacs in favour of Finance Commissioner (FC) Revenue, J&K Srinagar under New Pension Scheme (NPS) for remunerating the BOPEE selected Patwaris.
As per an official handout issued from Government of Jammu and Kashmir Civil Secretariat, Revenue Department with subject: Allotment of funds under New Pension Scheme for the financial year 2014-15 and Reference number: FD-VII-14 (145) NPS/2010 dated 08.10.2014, the order reads as-The undersigned is directed to release the funds to the tune of Rs. 175.14 lacs (Rupees one crore seventy five lacs fourteen thousands only) in favour of Finance Commissioner Revenue, J&K, Srinagar under New Pension Scheme, detailed head '641-Pensionary Charges' below Sub-Head:2327 Government contribution and Major Head: 2071-Pension and other retirement benefits for the financial year 2014-15.
The order further reads that the amount so authorized comprises of balance budget estimates of 2014-15 Rs. 24.214 lakhs and additionality of Rs. 150.90 lacs to be reflected in the Revised Estimates 2014-15. The order further advised the Finance Commissioner Revenue to utilize this amount for Non-plan posts only.
Pertinently Early Times in its October 4 story had mentioned that a resentment has been brewing in the BOPEE selected Patwaris of Jammu province who were not paid salaries for the last over 9 months despite their counterparts had been paid the same in Kashmir region.
The present order issued by the Government of Jammu and Kashmir has sanctioned amount of Rs. 175.14 lacs in favour of Finance Commissioner Revenue, J&K, Srinagar under the New Pension Scheme under which the BOPEE selected Patwaris also falls.
