Monitoring teams formed to check absenteeism in schools

Rajouri, Oct 15: On the complaints received from the public regarding increasing absenteeism amongst teaching staff in the schools and to monitor the regularity and punctuality of the teaching and non-teaching employees of education department, Chief Education Officer (CEO) Lal Hussain has constituted monitoring teams for the whole district.
In this connection, Mohammad Sahib Din, ZEO, Khwas, visited middle schools at Sena Khalbir and at Beena and primary school at Sen and found many teachers absent.
The ZEO was also informed by the members of Village Education Committees (VECs) that these teachers mostly remain absent from duty and come to school for only 2-3 days to collect their salaries.
VEC members have also demanded stern action against such teachers. He assured them a strict action against those found absent and said that in this connection the report will be forwarded to CEO.
On Saturday, several teams including CEO had paid surprise visits to various schools in Darhal, Manjakot, Kotranka and Thanamandi education zones and found many irregularities and lapses in Mid Day Meal (MDM) records. The regularity/ punctuality monitoring team members including Bishamber Dass, Suraj parkash, Ashok Kumar, Tanveer Mir, all principals, Pardeep Kumar in-charge Zonal Education Officer and Abdul Rashid Bhat headmaster visited several schools and found many teachers absent. They also found that proper record of Mid Day Meal (MDM) was not maintained and in many schools ration was found released but MDM was not served to the students. The CEO has cancelled all the unauthorized deployments and has sought the explanations from the concerned ZEOs and in-charges of MDM scheme.
He also placed under suspension Mohammad Iqbal, library in-charge of high school, Ghambir Brahmna, for his absence from duty.
The CEO also ordered to deduct one day salary of the teachers who were found absent from duty on Saturday and also called their explanations.
