New Delhi, Oct 15: In what can possibly threaten peace in India, Islamic State flag has been unfurled thrice in Jammu and Kashmir's capital city Srinagar, revealed Lieutenant General Subrata Saha, General Officer Commanding, Chinar Corps on Wednesday.
Saha, while drawing attention towards this grave issue, said the need of the hour is to closely monitor such actions.
"This is something that all security agencies must look into with utmost priority," he told news agencies. He further added that ISIS is capable of attracting a large number of volunteers which can pose serious threat to India. However, contrary to Saha's claims, the J&K Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, yesterday, denied the terror group's presence in the state and said action had been taken against the 'foolish youth' who displayed the flags. He further added that besides arresting some people in the case, the tailor who made the flag has also been identified and action is being initiated against him.
Meanwhile, some reports also claimed that six senior members of the Pakistani Taliban, including prominent regional leaders have pledged allegiance to the Islamic State terror group and its head Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi
The ISIS, which has gained vast swathes of territory in the Middle East and has reportedly become the richest terror group, has global ambitions and aims to establish its dominance in the world including India. More than 40 countries have joined the all-out efforts of the United States of America in creating a global coalition against the Islamic State terror group.
