Soibugh PHC fails people | | | Shakeel A Khan BUDGAM, Oct 15: The public health centre (PHC) at Soibugh, which was established decades ago isn't in a position to deliver the services to the satisfaction of the people of the area. People of the area have no faith in the medical staff posted there and they are left with no choice but to visit other areas to get their health related problems addressed. Soibugh village which has a huge catchment area craves for the better health facilities which aren't available there thanks to the negligence of the people in power. This area of the Budgam district has failed to draw the attention of the people in the power since the sitting NC MLA has no interest in this area. The building is in the shambles that hardly gives look of a hospital. It is more a circus show than a hospital as people of the area say that the doctors posted there have no worth as they have done their degrees in Indian System of Medicine outside the state against the payment. "The medicos posted in the PHC Soibugh have no worth as they shift the patients from here to manage the simplest plain. Patients could be seen being ferried to SKIMS Bemina since it isn't far away from here. It is the routine here and the medicos do it to relieve themselves of the tension," said Bashir Ahmad, a resident. Bashir went on saying that only some days before his close relative suffered from indigestion and was rushed to the PHC Soibugh. The doctor on the night duty there infused glucose to the patient but the condition remained as it was. "I requested the doctor to give the patient the Reglan injection since I have some knowledge about the medicines but he couldn't decide," said Bashir. This man from Soibugh said that he then shifted the patient to the SKIMS Soura without telling the doctor. "On reaching SKIMS Soura, the patient was given the Reglan injection and she was alright after half an hour," added Bashir. The people of the area say that the dental surgeon posted at the PHC Soibugh attends his duty as and when he likes. He visits the hospital as per the power schedule in the area to perform job of the root canal only and leaves the other related jobs to his assistant. "It has been our experience that the Dental surgeon attends his duty for only a couple of days in a week only to cause sufferings to the people of the area. He is the habitual of this and now we have come to know that he has gone on a long leave, leaving his assistant there to do his job which could prove lethal," said Mohammad Ashraf, a resident of Dharmunah. |
