Locals block NH-1A over alleged police harassment | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Oct 15: Following alleged beating of a youth by Bari Brahmana police, today relatives of the victim along with locals blocked the Jammu-Pathankot National highway for two hours demanding suspension of all the police officials involved in thrashing of the boy. Reports said relatives and locals of Bari Brahmana assembled on National Highway and blocked the national highway while alleging that one Vicky alias Kaka was harassed by the police. Amid slogans against police, the protestors alleged that Kaka who runs a rehri was picked up by police on Tuesday evening and was tortured unnecessarily. The protestors were demanding action against all involved in thrashing of the victim. However Police team rushed to the spot and tried to pacify the protestors but the agitating protestors paid no heed to the police forcing seniors administrative officers to rush the spot. It was assurance of Police and administrative officials that all the expenses of the treatment of the victim would be borne by the police the protestors lifted their dharna and allowed traffic to flow smoothly. Meanwhile, in another incident a traffic cop also thrashed a youth over a petty issue while the youth approached the police and police was investigating the allegations when last reports came in. |
