Jammu, Oct 15: A Tawi Andolan activist has criticized state government for ignoring Tawi River in Flood Management plan. Addressing media persons, Activist Chander Mohan Sharma said that floods in Tawi always, like the recent one, caused devastation in the villages on both sides of river and a permanent solution is needed. He criticized the pick and choose policy being practiced by coalition government in the matter of distribution of relief and reconstruction projects planned by it. "It is shocking that there is no mention of river tawi which was heavily flooded and has caused loss of crores of rupees to the infrastructure and the public property", said Sharma. He further demanded that the state government must immediately do holistic appraisal of flood control management of river tawi and bring tawi, devak and bhaskar with in the ambit proposed reconstruction plan. |
