Charges framed against then CHO, five Ors in illegal 'abortion case' | | | Jammu, Nov 18 : Principal Sessions Judge Jammu R S Jain today framed charges against SurrinderKampani, Radha Devi, Tajeswar, Rajinder Kumar, Rakesh Kumar and Pooja Devi in much publicized illegal abortion case at Akhnoor. Principal Sessions Judge Jammu RS Jain after going through the case observed that looking to the allegations and the investigation carried out by the police, prima facie case u/s 34/ 419/ 420 /312/315 RPC/ Sec.4 J&K Medical Termination of Pregnancy (MTP) Act is made out against the accused persons and framed charges. According to the police case on 3/4/2010, information was received by Police Station Akhnoor from a reliable source that accused SurrinderKampani who has retired as CHO at Room No. 6 at Raja Bazaar, Akhnoor in the one portion of house of KasturiLalMahajan was indulgied in illegal test of pregnant women to determine the sex of their fetus and taking money for the same carry out illegal abortion of the girl fetus. The case also said that compaliant also mentioned even at the ctime of compaliant 4/5 women are presenmt there on whom the illegal abortion is being performed. On receipt of this a case FIR No. 80/2010 for offence u/s 420/419/312/109 RPC/Sec.4 J&K Medical Termination of Pregnancy Act/ Section 23 of Pre-conception and Prenatal Sex Selection/ Determination (Prohibition and Regulation) Act in police station, Akhnoor.(JNF) |
