Selected teachers of Kulgam district up in arms against Education department | | | Mudasir Tariq
Early Times Report
SRINAGAR, Nov 18: The candidates of South Kashmir’s Kulgam district who have been selected for the teacher post through Services Selection Board (SSB) are up in arms against the Department of School Education for its lackadaisical approach in appointing them. Despite the selection list being brought out on August 13 this year the candidates allege that the department has unnecessarily wasted time in appointing them till the model code of conduct came into force. “The final selection list of 153 candidates was announced three months back, but till date we were not asked to submit undertaking by education department. We cannot understand the reason behind this unnecessary delay,” said Nissar Ahmad Bhat, secretary of the candidates representing Kulgam district. The candidates held that they approached Director School Education Kashmir several times but to no avail and recently they were ordered to get a written order from Chief electoral officer. “Till date the education department was making lame excuses for the unnecessary delay and when model code of conduct came into force, the director asked us to get written from election authorities which we did, still they are not considering our undertaking,” said Nissar. The candidates alleged that SSB declared the selection list of the Budgam district in October, still they were asked to submit an undertaking during the model code of conduct. “The Directorate of Education took the undertaking of the selected candidates of Budgam district whose list was declared in October, they submitted documents even when model code of conduct was in place. We don’t understand why they are not addressing our problem” said a group of candidates. When contacted Director School Education Kashmir, Mir Tariq Ali said, “We have already approved the list for Kulgam district and a notification in this regard has been sent to the joint director information for the publication in the media. We have initiated the process for all the districts and since the model code of conduct is in place, we are doing other necessary formalities.” It is pertinent to mention here that a total number of 1402 candidates have been selected by the SSB for the teacher post in Kashmir division, among which the list of 338 candidates have been put on hold for the document checking. |
