Raj Babar draws huge crowd in former NC bastion | Haq, Soz address people | | Javid Naikoo Early Times Report
Srinagar, Nov 18 : While as political parties are busy in campaigning these days to gain. Congress leader and noted film star, Raj Babar drew a huge crowd informerNational Conference (NC) Bastion, Ganderbal. Raj Babar who reached to Ganderbal today to campaign for Congress candidate, Muhammad Yousuf Bhat succeeded to pull a huge gathering for the first time in recent years at a place which formerly used to be a strong NC bastion. "I am lucky to meet Raj Babar. I should say that there is no place for NC in Ganderbal now. Gone are the days when NC leaders would come and befool people here. Omar was well aware of his fate, he deliberately left Ganderbal which was used to be the battle ground of Shiekh dynasty, " said Bhat. People particularly youth from all parts of Ganderbal numbering around 7000 reached Ganderbal to get a glimpse of the film star. Besides others, Congress national general secretary Moin-ul-Haq and Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) Chief Saif-ud-din-Soz also addressed the gathering. Pertinently Ganderbal once strong hold of NC has more rivals for NC than any other political party in present times after some noted NC leaders including Shiekh Ghulam Rasool, Ghulam Nabi Saloora and Muhammad Yousuf Bhat switched over to other political parties. Besides others analysts believe that in Ganderbal direct competition in upcoming assembly elections is between NC candidate, IshfaqJabar who replaced Omar Abdullah and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate Qazi Muhammad Afzal. NC patron Dr Farooq Abdullah who was defeated by Tariq Hammed Qara of PDP in Lok Sabha elections had to face huge embarrassment from after people of Ganderbal and Budgam Districts who voted in favor of Qara and defeated Abdullah with a big margin for the first time in his political career and results of LokSabha polls later according to analysts compelled Omar Abdullah to change his venue to contest upcoming assembly polls and handover the ancestral battle ground to opposition without even contesting. |
