1088 policemen, employees cast their votes in two Kishtwar constituencies | Congress, PDP workers clash | | Asif Iqbal Naik

Kishtwar, Nov 18: Ahead of their polling duty, 1021 police personnel and government employees engaged for poling duty in 51-Kishtwar and 52-Inderwal cast their votes in last two days while employees who were left out today will exercise their votes tomorrow before they proceed for duty towards respective polling stations. As per the details available with “Early Times”, 1088 employees cast their votes in both the constituencies which include 396 employees in 52-Inderwal including 274 police personals, SPOs and 122 polling officials while in 51-Kishtwar constituency, 692 including 311 employees and 381 police personals cast their votes. While talking to “Early Times” Returning Officer 51-Kishtwar Mohamad Hanief Malik said that as per election guidelines, the police personals and employees engaged in poll duty have been issued ballot papers by both the Returning Officers including Returning Officer 52-Inderwal Sudarshan Kumar Salaria. He said that process will continue tomorrow. In a question regarding transportation of polling staff in snow bound and inaccessible areas of Marwah and Warwan, RO 51-Kishtwar said that 38 such polling stations have been identified where the employees will be airlifted on 20 and 21st of November 2014. He said that after airlifting, all the employees will stationed at Nawapachi and Inshan from where they will leave for respective polling stations on foot on 24th morning. He said that lodging and boarding arrangements have been made by the administrations for these poling staff through revenue and Rural Development Department. Meanwhile Congress and PDP officials exchanged heated arguments outside polling station where police personals and employees were casting their votes forcing the police to intervene and use mild force. As per the details, Mushtaq Ahmed Hap Chief Election Agent of Congress candidate 52-Inderwal Ghulam Mohamad Saroori and senior PDP leader Talib Hussain started hurling abuses on each other as a result of which heated exchanges took place between the two forcing the police personals on duty to intervene. Later politicians of other political parties present at the spot also intervened and set both apart and brought the situation under control. |
