Non-distribution of free ration to Thakrie villagers

Kishtwar, Feb 16:- Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar Mohammad Javed Khan today ordered an inquiry into embezzlement of free ration meant for esidents of Thakrie and particularly the villages falling under Panchayat Filler B and directed the concerned SHO to produce two dealers of Fair Price Shops responsible for distribution of ration.
As per the details available with Early times, the DC constituted two member team headed by Tehsildar and SHO Kishtwar to conduct a detailed inquiry into the matter within 7 days.
The DC directed Tehsildar HQ Kishtwar to follow the details pertaining to day to day investigation progress, beside seeking details from Tehsil Supply Officer Kishtwar to produce details and three month record regarding distribution and supply of ration supplied by the department for the people of Filler Panchayat. The action against the erring Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution Department dealer comes in wake of the report published in today's edition of Early times titled "People of Thakrie held protest against CA&PD, locked government run fair price shop.
The villagers during their meeting with the DC informed him that no ration had been given to the people by the erring dealers since last three months, adding that the dealer instead offered 5 Kg ration to the villagers instead of sanctioned 35 Kg ration scale.
They said that poor people are forced to purchase the ration from open market, which everyone can't effort. They further complaint about non delivery of Kerosene oil to the villagers and also submitted a written complaint to the DC.
When contacted TSO Kishtwar informed the Early times that he was on leave, adding that the departmental inquiry will be initiated against the guilty dealers and assured action against them.
