early times report SRINAGAR, Feb 16: Legal Metrology department realized a fine of around Rs. 40,000 from the violators during its raids in some of the areas of Ladakh region and Kashmir valley. A team of Legal Metrology headed by Deputy Controller, Kashmir conducted surprise inspection of different markets of Naqashpora, Babapora, Habba Kadal, Fateh Kadal, and Aali Kadal in Srinagar city. The team booked number of erring bakery shops for violating packaged commodities laws. Five erring shopkeepers were booked for violating the norms. The Legal Metrology Department, Baramulla conducted inspection of various markets of Nambla, Uri, Heeven, Sheeri of Baramulla Tehsil and Dangerpora, Botingoo, Muqam Shahid Mir and Hathlangoo of Sopore Tehsil under the supervision of Assistant Controller. The team also inspected Gas Agencies and Petrol Pumps and booked 58 dealers for violation of various Provisions of Legal Metrology Act and recovered an amount of Rs. 32,000/ as fine from erring dealers. A joint team of officers of Legal Metrology Department comprising Joint Controller Kashmir, Deputy Controller, Ladakh and Inspector Kargil conducted inspection in different markets of Kargil town, Sankoo, Tretestome and Mulback etc. The team booked seven erring traders for violating Packaged Commodities Laws. The team imposed fine to the tune of Rs. 7,000/ on the erring traders. The consumers of the Kargil area were complaining for erratic supply of LPG to their homes. The Joint Controller, Legal Metrology, Kashmir province took up the issue with the Sales Officers of the Oil Companies and restored the home-delivery in the area. |
