GDC Rajouri, PG Law & Sciences advance in cricket

JAMMU, Jan 29: Government Degree College (GDC) Rajouri and Post Graduate (PG) Law and Sciences today advanced into next round winning their respective matches in the ongoing inter-college cricket tournament, organised by the Directorate of Sports and Physical Education, University of Jammu (JU) on the campus ground, here.
Earlier, in today's scheduled matches, GDC Rajouri defeated GDC Doda by a small margin of four runs. Batting first, after GDC Doda won the toss and opted to field, Rajouri made 72 runs for five wickets in eight overs game.
Yasir remained top scorer with 25-ball 28 runs while Mushtaq and Sajid contributed 17 and 11 runs respectively. From GDC Doda, Zahid, Salmana and Rajat took one wicket each.
In reply, GDC Doda bowled out for 68 runs in 7.5 overs to lose the game narrowly by four runs. Rasayat, Yasir and Iftiaz shared two wickets each, followed by Shahrukh and Imran, who took one wicket each.
Meanwhile, in another match of the day, PG Law and Sciences defeated GDC R S Pura by 10 runs. Earlier, PG Law and Sciences made 116 runs losing eight wickets in given 16 overs. Soumaya Jain remained top scorer with 38 runs hitting two sixes and three boundaries off 26 deliveries while Gokul Baru contributed 19-ball 19 runs. Arun Singh and Khalid Hussain were other main scorers with 13 runs each. Sumit Singh took two wickets from R S Pura.
Later, GDC RS Pura could make 106 runs losing nine wickets in allotted 16 overs. Amandeep (17), Gourav (15), Narinder (14) and Jasbir Singh (12) were main scorers. From PG Law and Sciences, Gokul Baru emerged as most successful bowler, who took three wickets while Ajesh and Jyoti claimed two each.
Today's matches officiated by Saleem-ur-Rehman, Vjay Dogra, Raj Kumar Bakshi, Suresh Singh and Pankaj Sasan while Manu Khajuria was scorer.
