JAMMU, Jan 29: A senior officer of PHE department has 'secretly' ordered the transfer of his four 'favourite' AEs (assistant engineers) in violation of norms.
The state is under Governor’s Rule after the demise of Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Syed on January 7 last.
Since Governor N N Vogra had authorised only the chief secretary to effect transfers in the state administration, the senior officer of PHE department could not do so. Despite that he transferred four AEs to different Jammu areas just to please them, official sources said.
"The order copies were secretly given to the four AEs only and have not been circulated to anyone else in the department," sources alleged.
Sources said the senior officer had asked the four AEs to forthwith join their new places of posting.
"The transfer order is wrong because the senior officer does not have the power to make transfers," sources alleged.
Had there been an elected government, the minister concerned would not have allowed him to order transfer of the four AEs, sources said. |
