Dental Camp organised at Doon International School 1/29/2016 9:48:35 PM Early Times Report Jammu, Jan 29: Institute of Dental Science, Sehora organised a Dental Camp in the premises of Doon International School on Friday. A team of 10 doctors led by Dr. Gurdeep Singh and Dr. Kamaljeet Singh checked the dental health of the students of DIS and taught them the best ways of dental hygiene. Some students were advised for advanced treatment to be provided free of cost at the institute. This initiative was taken by the Chairman Mr. G.N. Tantray and the Principal Vikesh Kaur to sensitize the students about the importance of oral hygiene.The camp was initiated with dental awareness talk, educating students about common dental ailments, especially stressing on tooth decay and gum diseases and measures to prevent from them. The students were highlighted about the eating patterns and food choices which cause tooth decay. The surgeons also highlighted about the possible formation of harmful acid which develops when bacteria (plaque) get in contact with sugar in the mouth which ultimately results in tooth decay. "Added sugars often are present in soft drinks, candies, cookies, pastries and therefore to help control the consumption of sugar one must read the food labels and choose the right foods and beverages that are low in added sugar", the dental surgeons added. The students got ample opportunities to interact with the dental surgeons to enquire and gain knowledge concerning oral diseases.
