Early Times Report
Jammu, Jan 29: The state Vigilance commission (SVC), taking a serious note of the alleged misuse of funds meant for execution of various developmental works by some officials of Rural Development Department (RDD) in Marmat block of Doda, has summoned additional deputy commissioner, Doda. The complaint about the alleged misuse of funds by the RDD officials was lodged with SVC by Ramesh Kumar of Paryote, Doda. In his complaint, he alleged that there had been drawl of huge payments from government exchequer from time to time against non-existing and fictitious works fraudulently and dishonestly shown on official documents during financial year 2011-2012 in panchayat halqa Paryot-B of Marmat block by a Village Level Worker (VLW), tantamounting to misuse of official position and enormous loss to the state exchequer. Taking a serious note of the alleged matter, SVC directed ADC, Doda, for an on spot inquiry and submission of status report thereof before the commission. Despite issuance of several notices to the deputy commissioner and ADC, Doda, for submission of status report in the matter, they neither bothered to hold an inquiry nor submitted the requisite report thereof before the commission. Instead, they sought adjournments and exemptions from appearance without justifiable reasons, which prima-facie exhibited their non-serious approach, amounting to deliberate shielding of corrupt elements working under their jurisdiction, SVC observed. Due to the dishonouring of its orders, SVC directed the DC, Doda, to ensure presence of ADC, Doda (DVO), before it on February 19, 2016along with the requisite report, including reply to a show cause notice already issued to him by the commission.
