Ramban, Jan 29: Jilted over alleged second marriage by her husband, a married woman attempted suicide by consuming the poison in the house of her 'in-laws' at Dalliyan Maggerkot in Ramsu on Thursday evening under mysterious circumstances and later was referred to the Govt medical College and Hospital (GMC&H), Jammu where she is stated to out of danger.
The woman has been identified as Asha Katoch of village Kanga, Ramban who has been referred to the Govt medical College and Hospital (GMC&H), Jammu from the Ramban, where her condition is stated to be stable.
According to the Police sources, after knowing that her 'husband', Kuldip Singh( Constable,IRP,7th Battalion Belt No.877) s/o Braham Singh was getting married again on January 27, despite having signed a 'Marriage Agreement' with him in the court of Munsif, Banihal on June 22,2011.
Pertinent to mention that she could not get his marriage saved despite the directions served to Kuldip Singh from the Court of Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM), Ramban. Sources said the lady reportedly had gone to her In laws house where she had a heated argument with her in-laws family members and later allegedly consumed the poison there the same evening.
After receiving information, police party brought her to the Ramsu Medical Sub-Centre, Batote from where she was taken to the District Hospital,Ramban wherefrom she was referred to the GMC&H ,Jammu last midnight.
Meanwhile Ramsu police has registered an FIR (5/2016) u/s 451,309 in this regard, sources said.
Meantime the family of woman have alleged that following the alleged victimization of Asha allegedly by Kuldip and registration of a criminal case (FIR NO.-42/2011)u/s 4/5, 376 on June 8, 2011 against him for denying a 'Marriage Agreement' signed in the Munsif Court, Banihal on June 22, 2011.
They also mentioned when the lady visited her in-laws house alongwith her sister, mother and some social workers on September 3, 2014 where they members of Kuldip Singh manhandled them.
However on her request for reopening the marriage case registered of June 8,2011, the Judicial Magistrate 1st Class, Batote had directed the SSP, Ramban, Randeep Kumar for its re-verification in October 2015. They alleged Kuldip had got the said process stayed from the High Court and the matter has been pending there. Her family members alleged that Kuldip and his father, Braham Singh has been claiming to be the relatives of the former Deputy Chief Minister, J&K and Governor, Assam, DD Thakur and threatening them
Reportedly, Asha belongs to a very poor family and had lost her father some years ago and has been serving in a private concern at Jammu under the Udaan scheme.
Expressing their shock over the incident, Amrit Varsha, State Secretary (Women wing) National Conference and Narinder Kour, District President (Women wing) Congress Ramban have threatened of agitation if the justice is not meted out to Asha. |
