Early Times Report Jammu, Jan 30: The bold decision of PDP president Mehbooba Mufti to vacate the Chief Minister's official residence has sent a shock wave among the former BJP ministers in then Mufti Sayeed led coalition Government. Already dejected over continuous delay in formation of Government, these former ministers from BJP are now facing the threat of their forceful eviction from the official bungalows, which were allotted to them a few months earlier. Earlier, these ex-ministers were confident that Mehbooba Mufti would soon agree to form Government with the BJP and they would continue to enjoy the luxuries of official accommodation for the next five years or even less. This leader had never dreamt that within a few months of shifting to their official bungalows, which were renovated for them by spending crores of rupees from the State exchequer, they would face the threat of sudden eviction, particularly in the wake of Mehbooba Mufti's decision of vacating official residence of CM. According to the sources, the Governor's administration has signaled to the Estate Department for issuing eviction notice to all the ex-ministers after February 8. Even as no such formal communication has been made between the Raj Bhawan and the Estate Department, the stipulated period for eviction of official residence after these legislators seize to be ministers, is one month and therefore February 8 is the last date for vacating the accommodation, sources explained. The situation has created a piquant situation for the BJP ministers, particularly those who had rented out their residences before shifting to the official accommodation for earning money, like a few Congress leaders did. |
