Jammu, Jan 30: A senior minister reportedly made huge fortune during the past 10 months by appointing tainted engineers at plum posts.
"The minister gave selected positions to tainted engineers in lieu of hefty amount paid by them as bribe," claimed sources.
"An engineer, who is involved in number of cases was elevated to top post in lieu of an XUV vehicle (Toyota) amounting to Rs 25 lakhs and Rs 60 lakhs cash," the source alleged.
"Another engineer paid Rs 55 lakh in cash to get elevated as the Chief Engineer despite him being declared as deadwood by the state government," the source added.
He claimed that five engineers paid Rs 1.18 Crore to get posted as executive engineers.
"Two engineers paid Rs 28 lakhs and Rs 35 lakhs respectively to get elevated as Executive Engineers. A engineer secured the post of Executive Engineer by paying Rs 32 lakhs," sources claimed, adding that two more XEns paid huge amounts for prize posting.
"To get post of XEn in Udhmapur district an engineer paid Rs 18 lakhs in cash, for similar post in Jammu district another engineer paid Rs 16 lakhs", sources alleged.
Apart from this, Minister has transferred a number of AEEs', AEs' and JEs' and collected money through his loyal agents.
A PRO of the then Minister and a JE in the department were authorized by the minister to collect money on his behalf. |
