Early Times Report

Jammu Jan 30: All J&K ReT Teachers Forum today held a peaceful demonstration at Jammu outside the Governor House against the alleged callous attitude of the government to harass the Rehber-e-Taleem (ReT) teachers by issuing the order of screening test. The protestors also bunt the Xerox copies of their degrees from Distance Education Mode to register their protest.
Led by State President Vinod Sharma, a large number of ReT teachers alongwith School Education Coordination Committee members headed by Ganesh Khajuria and Narinder Singh Jamwal assembled outside official residence of Governor in winter capital of state.
Amid slogans in support of their demands the protestors demanded Governor to intervene into the matter to redress their long pending demands.
Addressing the protestors State president Sharma said that the Education department has misinterpreted the High Court Srinagar wing judgment of May14,2015 In which degree issued by dubious universities were supposed to be verified and such class c ReTs/Teachers were supposed to face the screening test.
"And Govt. order no. 631 Edu of 2015 dated 29-12-2015 all those ReTs who possess distance mode degrees at the time of engagement as ReTs of all the Universities including Jammu university, Kashmir University, IGNOU, MANUU and any other UGC recognized universities too were asked to face the screening test, he said, adding, "thus questioning the credibility of the distance mode degrees of such reputed Universities."
"On one hand the govt is appointing youths having degrees of distance mode in various departments and on the other ReTs possessing the distance mode degrees of such universities are asked to face screening test, he said terming it clear discrimination and harassment of ReT cadre.
Speakers appealed the Governor to intervene and urged him to exempt the all who have degrees from UGC recognized universities from Screening Test. They also sought the immediate regularization of ReT Teachers and KGBV Teachers who have completed their 5 years service some 2 years ago. They also demanded early release of salaries of SSA teachers which is pending for the last six -seven months.
School Education Coordination Committee Provincial Chairman Narinder Singh Jamwal, provincial President Ganesh khajuria, Younis Rahi, Najam Jafari, Lekh Raj Parihar. Sukhdev Singh and others also spoke on the occasion.
