Udhampur, Jan 30: A training programme for the farmers was conducted by DDM, NABARD, and Udhampur at village Ludhyana, Udhampur.The programme was attended by Virender Sharma, Branch Manager, J&K Bank, Sudhmahadev, Kumar Vivek Shahi, Project Manager, Actech Agro Private Limited and farmers of the area. The farmers were imparted training regarding use of organic fertilizers and pesticides making them aware of their benefits. They were also imparted training regarding various crop diseases prevalent in the area and their treatment using organic pesticides and medicines informing them that the seeds of vegetables grown by them are very costly and hence they must take up preparation of seeds of some vegetables to reduce input costs. They were also asked to keep growing multiple vegetables instead of one vegetable to avail advantage of market prices. NABARD has promoted 24 Kisan Clubs in Chenani Blocks of Udhampur district through Actec Agro Private Limited - a company with expertise in agriculture. A Kisan Club is a group of minimum 12 progressive farmers who are practicing latest farming practices using farm equipments suitable to the area. These farmers have availed loans from banks for carrying out the agriculture opearations using latest technology, increased their production resulting in increased income and repaid the bank loans out of the surplus. In other words, it is a group of progressive farmers adopting latest technology using bank loan and increasing the income by increasing production of farm produce. |
