Srinagar, May 12: JK Board of Professional Entrance Examination (BOPEE) has asked the CET aspirants to get their admit cards attested by gazetted officers despite the government orders putting away the practice. The move has left the JK Common Entrance Test (CET) aspirants fumed who accused BOPEE authorities of complicating the examination process. "Despite having clear cut orders from government to accept the self-attested copies of documents, BOPEE is asking us to get our admit card authenticated by some gazetted officer," said Muzamil Ahmad, a CET aspirant. The BOPEE has made it mandatory for students who have applied for the JK CET examination to affix their photographs on the admit cards and get them attested by the gazetted officers. "After we downloaded the admit card, BOPEE has kept a box in the admit card where the students have to affix a photo attested by a gazetted officer. Where will we search the gazetted officer to authenticate our admit cards," the aspiring students asked. Last month, the JK government ordered that the self-attested copies of documents by the applicants be accepted for seeking employment in Government Departments, Local Bodies, Panchayati Raj Institutions, Boards, Corporations and Public Sector Undertakings. As per the orders issued by the JK General Administration Department (GAD), the documents will also be valid for seeking admission in educational institutions in the State; and seeking services/benefits under various State/ central Government schemes. The decision was taken in a bid to provide relief to the students and aspiring candidates by saving their time and energy. However, the aggrieved aspirants said the BOPEE was unnecessarily making complications in the simple entrance examination. "It is really a headache for students to run after gazetted officers to get the admit card or any other related document attested," the students said, adding that BOPEE should reconsider the decision to provide major relief to the aspirants. Chairman BOPEE Ghulam Hassan Tantray said the condition was set by BOPEE for proper identification of the aspirants appearing in CET examination. "This is for identification of the candidate and will avoid impersonation. We are bound to take measures to avoid any prank or bluff by the candidates," Chairman BOPEE said. |
