Kishtwar, May 12: After remaining functional for almost 10 days, the BSNL tower which was inaugurated by the Minister of State for Transport (MLA Kishtwar) on 20-07-2015 after much delay of five long years since its construction at Inshan Warwan become non functional within 10 days . The government as well as BSNL authorities fail to make the tower functional causing lot of inconvenience to the people who are suffering due to non availability of the communication.
As per the details available with "Early Times" a deputation of inhabitants of Inshan Warwan lead by Gul Hassan today approached the Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar and seek his intervention with regard to making the only BSNL tower installed in Warwan area of Kishtwar District functional adding that after its inauguration in July 2015, neither BSNL pays any attention towards making this tower functional nor the government take any interest into the matter. They said that despite repeated request to the senior BSNL officials including SDO Kishtwar, TDM Udhampur as well as DGM of BSNL Jammu and Kashmir circle, nothing was done in this regard. They informed the Deputy Commissioner that several BSNL SIM cards purchased by the poor villagers becomes non functional due to non operational of tower since last 10 months and demanded that BSNL should immediately restore all those SIM cards registered on the inhabitants of Warwan, beside also seek his intervention in enhancing capacity of the mobile lines from existing 50 to 800 lines added that due to conjunction in the tower, the people feel lot of problem in calling as a result of which the purpose of establishing of this mobile tower get vanished.
They said that the only satellite STD is also non functional and demanded sanctioning of more such STD's in the area.
They said that the Warwan area is without electricity and it becomes difficult to operate the said BSNL tower through generator sets and demanded installing of solar light system which will ensure uninterrupted mobile service to the people throughout the year.
They urged up on DC Kishtwar to take up the matters with senior officials of the BSNL department with regard to this issue so that non functional BSNL tower could be made operational with immediate effect.
The DC after giving patience hearing to the inhabitants of Warwan assured them that he will look into the issue and will also take the matter with the senior officials of BSNL for early redressel of their grievances.
It is pertinent to mention that BSNL sanctioned three mobile towers for unconnected areas of Marwah, Warwan and Dachhan during UPA Government, but due to lethargic approach of BSNL, the people of Marwah/Warwan/Dachhan were deprived off from telecommunication facility even after 68 years of independence.
These three areas not only lack telecommunication facility, but also lack modern facilities like roads, electricity. It was only a month before when BSNL Tower at Nawapachi was made operational, but people complaint about its non functional added that majority of the time the tower signal remains off while the signals were on; the people found very difficult to get the calls through. |
