Jammu, May 12: Poor services is not the only reason behind the slow but sure death of the public sector telecom giant BSNL in J&K which is losing business to the private players thick and fast, it is also the arrogance and conceit of its employees who by misbehaving with the subscribers are ensuring that the it breathed its last soon. Narrating his ordeal, an insulted and embarrassed customer Anuj Gupta said, "It was shocking for me to find a police officer like AO at Rani Park BSNL exchange, who instead of addressing my grievance insulted me, when I asked him the reason of disconnecting my telephone without any intimation". He further said, "I had gone to enquire about my phone, which was disconnected without any intimation; but even before I could narrate my problem, the AO said, 'BSNL Aap Ki Jagir Nahi Hai". "Forget the old times. We are not accountable to customers. You must have approached to this office," the AO fired a volley of instructions on the poor subscriber, who was taken aback by the rudeness of the AO. When informed that time and again complaints were made to BSNL for repairs but none came to address the issue, the AO said arrogantly, "Why should the linemen come? Why didn't you climb my stairs?",Anuj Gupta narrated. "When I objected to the arrogant attitude, the AO said, "you can go to the DO", Gupta said further. Anuj further said that he had three connections of private telecom operators in family and whenever there was any problem, customer care service was easily available and they addressed it instantly. Ritesh Kumar, another customer who was victim of arrogance of the AO said that in the offices of private telecom operators, they behave very politely and literally treat their customers as valuable assets, but BSNL customer care officials as well as officials in their offices behave arrogantly, which is why BSNL is losing its customers fast. Divisional Manager BSNL, Gotam Lal when contacted said that earlier the phones were disconnected manually, but now it was done automatically from Chandigarh. He however justified the behaviour of his AO rather than taking action against him. |
