Unidentified snatchs Rs 1.82 lakh from trader

Kishtwar, May 11: in a bizarre incident and bollywood style two unidentified persons looted approximately Rs 1.82 lakhs from a businessman in posh locality of Kishtwar District and fled from the spot by taking advantage of darkness of late evening.
"The incident took place at around 9 PM when a local businessman was returning home after closing his shop," police sources said.
As per the details available with "Early Times" victim Narinder Kumar owner of a business establishment in Old Bazzar Kishtwar was looted of his cash upto Rs 1.82 Lakhs when he was returning to home after closing his shop.
Quoting victim, the police sources said, "Two unidentified persons intercepted Narinder Kumar near Shakti Nagar W- 10 of Municipal Committee who hit him on his face to his surprise and snatched his bag carrying cash to the tune of approximately Rs 1.82 lakhs and escaped towards DSB Road Kishtwar.
"Though injured, the businessman chased them but the assailants again caught hold of him and thrashed him badly, police sources added.
They said as per complainant the robbers with the help of an accomplice escaped from the spot on motorcycle leaving injured Narinder Kumar in pool of blood.
After receiving information, SHO Police Station Kishtwar rushed to the spot and shifted the injured to District Hospital (DH) Kishtwar where the victim was hospitalized. Meanwhile senior police officers including SSP Kishtwar Sandeep Wazir also rushed to the spot and police immediately cordoned the area and started manhunt to trace out the culprits, they added.
SSP Kishtwar Mr Wazir while confirming the robbing incident briefly said that police has registered an FIR and had started its investigation.
He said that the injured businessman is presently admitted at District Hospital Kishtwar added that once he will be fit for the statement, police will record his statement. He said that Police have launched a massive manhunt to trace out the culprits and assured that the accused behind this heinous crime will be arrested.
Meanwhile trader Ishataq Ahmed Waza has condemned the incident and demanded immediate arrest of the culprits. He said that police should provide security to the trader community and blamed that frequent power cuts and non installation of street lights in Kishtwar are making them vulnerable to anti social elements. Traders also have demanded that administration should order for immediate stopping of curtailment during late evening hours and to install lights at areas prone to robberies/snatching in the town and its adjoining areas.
