Early Times Report
Kishtwar, May 12: : A day after Early Times carried a news report on absenteeism culture in government offices at Marwah and on the no whereabouts of the office of Assistant Register Cooperative Society, exclusively sanctioned for Marwah for the last 27 years, people of Marwah and Warwan areas held a protest here today against the officials who were not attending their duties in the area.
The protest was led by PDP leaders Nazir Ahmed and Rouf Ahmed. They were later joined by BJP, Congress and NC leaders of Marwah and Warwan.
They protested outside the office of deputy commissioner and blocked the main road for more than two hours amid raising of slogans. They demanded immediate suspension of a CAPD officer, alleging that he was involved in embezzlement of 1602 quintals of ration, including 1068 quintals of rice and 534 quintals of wheat.
They said the government had failed clear snow from Sinthan Top and Margan Top as a result of which the road connecting Warwan and Marwah was yet not restored.
They lifted the blockade after DC Ghulam Nabi Balwan and SSP Sandeep Kumar Wazir met them and assured them to look into the issued raised by them.
When contacted, the DC said the prime concern of the adminstration was to supply ration to Marwah as people there were yet to receive it for the month of Arpil-May 2016 as the ration for the areas of Marwah had fallen short for which CAPD department had already initiated an inquiry. He said the process of snow clearance was on and the road would be through in the next few days.
It is pertinent to mention that during an inspection conducted by the Naib Tehsildar Marwah Mohammad Mukhtyar Zarger, several government offices, Anganwari Centers, Health Centers, schools and other government offices were either found locked or the employees were found absent from their duties. On the basis of his report, the DC had ordered to immediate withhold salaries of all the absentees and seek explanation from them.
