Jammu/Shangus, Dec 14: Leaving the local Congress leadership dumbstruck, astute economist in Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh today said that proposals like ‘Autonomy’ and ‘Self Rule’ were also possible if Congress is voted to power in Jammu and Kashmir.
The local Congress leadership in Jammu and Kashmir has been chiding the Self Rule proposal and rubbishing the Autonomy all these months and years but the Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh set the ball rolling down the Valley of Kashmir where these proposals are debated much. However, seeking to elaborate, the Prime Minister said that these (Self Rules and Autonomy) were also possible through strengthening of Panchayati Raj.
Prime Minister today addressed two election rallies for the Congress –one in Shangus in South Kashmir and another in Jammu. While at Shangus his speech was loaded with the politics which revolved around bringing peace in Kashmir and sent across the strong message to Pakistan, in Jammu the Prime Minister mainly focused on development programs.

Srinagar, Dec 14: Unfazed by the United Nations decision to ban its frontal organisation Jamaat-ud-Dawa, the proscribed Lashkar-e-Toiba today described the move as "unjustified" and vowed to continue its armed struggle in Kashmir.
"LeT vows to continue the struggle till India resolved Kashmir issue as per wishes and aspirations of Kashmiris," 'Chief Commander' of the outfit Qari Abdul Wahid Kashmiri said in a statement to a local English daily.

New Delhi, Dec 14: The Supreme Court has held that only a lower court in whose jurisdiction an offence of cheque bounce is committed will try the case.
Setting the guideline, the Apex court said complainants, including financial institutions and banks, while filing cheque bounce cases, should ensure that no inconvenience is caused to the accused.
There are numerous instances where complaints are being filed at more than one place to harass an accused, the court observed while hearing a petition challenging the territorial jurisdiction of a court to try an offence under the Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881.

New Delhi, Dec 14: Pakistan has claimed that Indian fighter jets violated its airspace late Saturday night, an allegation that India Sunday termed as "untrue".
Meanwhile, Geo TV reported that Pakistan has declared an emergency at its airbases at Shorkot and Sarghoda following reports that Indian jets violated Pakistan air spaces twice - in Pakistani-administered Kashmir and in Lahore.
