More snowfall expected in Valley
2/9/2009 11:39:32 PM
Early Times Report Srinagar, Feb 9 : The Kashmir Valley is likely to receive more rain and snowfall in the next three days, weather officials said here Monday. "A western disturbance is presently passing over the Valley and because of this we are expecting rain and snowfall for three days beginning today (Monday)," said T.K. Jotshi, assistant director of the weather office here. Heavy snowfall in the northern parts of the Valley had last week triggered an avalanche that claimed four lives in Kupwara district. The strategic Jammu-Srinagar highway, the lifeline of supplies to the landlocked Valley, was also closed for two days last week because of snowfall and slippery roads. "There would be light to moderate snowfall across the Valley for the next three days," Jotshi said. ...

HP’s BJP Govt ‘gifts’ PoK to Pakistan, Aksai Chin to China
2/9/2009 11:39:16 PM
ET DESK Jammu, Feb 9: The Bhartiya Janta Party wants abrogation of Article 370 removal so called ‘special status’ to Jammu and Kashmir for its ‘full integration with India’ but shortly ahead of the Lok Sabha elections, when such rhetoric comes in handy, a state government led by the BJP has declared Pakistan occupied Kashmir as part of Pakistan and Aksai Chin as part of China. Published on the insi...

Barring call for Safari, prize winners untraced
2/9/2009 11:38:11 PM
Early Times Report Jammu, Feb 9: Of thousands of prizes that were won by the ticket buyers by draw of lots in the famous Police-Public Mela, the Police Welfare Department has so far received only one call –of course, for the lead prize Tata Safari. As no claimant turned to take away keys of the cars or other gifts won in lucky draw it appears that most of the prizes have gone to small towns and far off villages where ticket buyers are yet to know about their luck. The Police Welfare department has sold more than 3.5 lakh tickets amounting to something between Rs 18 lakhs to 20 lakhs. While all ranks of Police were required to buy five tickets each, over a lakh tickets are reporte...
