Jammu, March 7, : The state assembly on Saturday witnessed uproarious scenes before it was adjourned for half an hour over the firing incident in Srinagar in which one youth died while several others were injured.
Soon after the house was convened after it witnessed pandemonium over the issue of delimitation commision on Friday almost all the PDP members led by AR Veeri raised the issue in the house before the question hour started and accused the government of failing to check killings of innocent citizens of the state.

Jammu/Srinagar, March 07: "The incident would be investigated and the guilty punished," Minister for Finance, Law and Parliamentary Affairs Abdul Rahim Rather said in Jammu today.
An investigation would be ordered into the police firing on protesters that left one dead and 30 injured in Srinagar yesterday, where normal life was crippled as authorities clamped prohibitory orders.
He was addressing a press conference after the state Assembly was adjourned for half an hour following pandemonium caused by slogan-shouting opposition members demanding action against the security personnel involved in the incident.

Jammu, Mar 7 : Ornaments worth lakhs were burnt in two jewellery shops after a fire broke due to short circuit during the wee hours today in the winter capital of Jammu and Kashmir, police sources here said.
''Besides gold and silver ornaments, some portions of the shops namely Om Prakash Suri and Puri Jewellers located in Lakhdata Bazar area of old city were damaged when a fire broke out during the wee hours,'' the sources told .
They said on receiving the information, police parties rushed to the spot while five fire engines were also pressed into service and the fire was controlled from being spreading.

New Delhi , March 07: There is a need to rebuild the relationship between Jammu and Kashmir and rest of the country which has fallen prey to the two decades-old militancy, said Chief Minister Omar Abdullah.
Participating at a seminar here, Omar was replying to questions about the steps being taken by his government to promote tourism in the state.
