Bhalla, Chib, Akhoon, Malik, Agha, Hassan Mir, Saroori, Sakina in Cabinet Independent Charge for Ajaz, Manohar; Shabir, Javed, Nasir Sogami Ministers of State ZAFAR CHOUDHARY Srinagar, July 11: The six-month old coalition ministry of National Conference and Congress headed by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah was expanded this afternoon with induction of 13 new faces –eight Cabinet Ministers, two Ministers of State with Independent Charge and three Ministers of State. Governor NN Vohra administered the oath of office and secrecy to new Ministers at a simple ceremony held at Sher-e-Kashmir International Convention Center. The Chief Minister later in the evening chaired an informed meeting of his Cabinet. They did not include veterans like Dr Farooq Abdullah, Omar Abdullah, Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, Mehbooba Mufti etcetera. Eighteen of them were from Jammu, nine from the Valley and one from Ladakh region. Army Captain sacked for 'false' harassment charges

Agencies Chandigarh, July 11: An Army court martial has ordered the dismissal of a woman officer from service, a first in almost two decades since women were recruited, after holding her guilty of falsely accusing her seniors of sexual harassment. The court martial, which had assembled in the Division Headquarters at Patiala in Punjab near here, gave its orders yesterday and ordered that Army Service Corps (ASC) officer Captain Poonam Kaur be sacked. "The Court Martial has ordered her dismissal from service. Agencies Chennai, Jul 11: A total solar eclipse of the longest duration in the 21st century will occur on the morning of July 22. According to a press release from India Meterorological Department here today, the eclipse would be of special interest for scientists as well as the people of the country as its path of totality would pass through thickly populated regions of west, central, east and north-east India. The eclipse, whose partial phase would be visible throughout the country, would provide a rare opportunity to view and study a grand spectacle of nature. Boy killed in Mendhar blast

Early Times Report Jammu, July 11: A blast in Mendhar region killed a boy and left two teenage girls badly injured on Saturday. The blast was triggered off when three kids found some explosive lying in a forest area near the Pakistan border. The boy, identified as Waqar Ahmed, aged 12, died on the spot, while the girls Sahila Praveen, 13, and Shahida Praveen, 14, suffered critical splinter injuries. "The children found some explosive lying around in the forest area and out of curiosity they touched it triggering the blast. One boy died on the spot and two little girls have been brought here to the hospital and they will be sent to Jammu Medical College for further treatment," said Mumta...
