Srinagar, July 11: The six-month old coalition ministry of National Conference and Congress headed by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah was expanded this afternoon with induction of 13 new faces –eight Cabinet Ministers, two Ministers of State with Independent Charge and three Ministers of State. Governor NN Vohra administered the oath of office and secrecy to new Ministers at a simple ceremony held at Sher-e-Kashmir International Convention Center. The Chief Minister later in the evening chaired an informed meeting of his Cabinet.

Chandigarh, July 11: An Army court martial has ordered the dismissal of a woman officer from service, a first in almost two decades since women were recruited, after holding her guilty of falsely accusing her seniors of sexual harassment.
The court martial, which had assembled in the Division Headquarters at Patiala in Punjab near here, gave its orders yesterday and ordered that Army Service Corps (ASC) officer Captain Poonam Kaur be sacked.

Chennai, Jul 11: A total solar eclipse of the longest duration in the 21st century will occur on the morning of July 22.
According to a press release from India Meterorological Department here today, the eclipse would be of special interest for scientists as well as the people of the country as its path of totality would pass through thickly populated regions of west, central, east and north-east India.

Jammu, July 11: A blast in Mendhar region killed a boy and left two teenage girls badly injured on Saturday.
The blast was triggered off when three kids found some explosive lying in a forest area near the Pakistan border.
The boy, identified as Waqar Ahmed, aged 12, died on the spot, while the girls Sahila Praveen, 13, and Shahida Praveen, 14, suffered critical splinter injuries.
