With deadlock on the Shri Amarnath Shrine land transfer row persisting, Jammu City and many other parts of the region today observed a complete shut down on the call of Shri Amarnath Yatra Sangharsh Samiti and supported by many other organizations.
Meanwhile, the Governor who was in Jammu for three days, apparently to talk to the agitating parties today flew out to Srinagar without cutting any ice. Though he made repeated pleas for discussing with representatives of the Sangharsh Samiti but talks could not be brokered during his three day stay here at the Raj Bhawan.
Public transport kept off the roads and most of the government establishments too remained shut as people could not reach their offices. Though some incidents of clashes have been reported from areas, including Rajouri, but the shut down and protest demonstration generally remained peaceful.

The security along India's over 7,400-km long frontier with Pakistan and Bangladesh could soon go hi-tech, with the Border Security Force in talks with a leading US firm to install an electronic monitoring system.

Militants operating in Jammu and Kashmir are using cell phones of high-profile people, including a former MLA, who work as their overground workers, to communicate and receive orders from their Pakistan-based headquarters, intelligence agencies have said.

In a spine chilling yet mysterious tragedy, a senior Army Officer lost his life to flash floods in Nagrota area.
Army officer of the rank of Lt Colonel was today swept away in flash floods while he was crossing a causeway in Nagrota area on the outskirts of Jammu.
