| Gujarat minister confronts Azad | | | |
Abid Shah
New Delhi, August 21: Wittingly or unwittingly, the Union Minister for Health, Mr Ghulam Nabi Azad, kicked off a row here on Friday. This happened after he admonished State Health Ministers at a conference for dragging their feet from an all-out fight against swine flu.
Gujarat Home Minister, Mr J.N. Vyas, took umbrage to the Union Health Minister’s drubbing. Mr Vyas then accused the Union minister of using an expletive like “bloody”, among other things. However, this was not visible in TV grabs of Health Ministers’ conference shown later.
Ever since the outbreak of swine flu, this is the second glitch that has dogged Mr Azad. Earlier, the Union Minister’s had made a remark regarding the likelihood of the infection being spread by a Pune schoolgirl who had died because of swine flu.
The girl’s family was outraged by Mr Azad’s remark and had threatened legal action against him. This had forced Mr Azad on the backfoot and he chose to apologise to the victim’s family.
Yet, on Friday, while addressing Health Ministers gathered in New Delhi from States affected by swine ...

It sounds daft and absurd but the free for all situation was hosted by a large group of lawyers and not any under-trial criminal gone berserk in the court premises on hearing an undesired judgment. “Unpleasant and unprecedented”, this is how many lawyers described but may wanted the Bar Association to own a collective responsibility for all that happened in presence of many ju...

Early Times Special
JAMMU, August 21
A large area of Doda district, located along the mighty Chenab, has been sinking for the last few years. The incidence of landslides in the area has gone up and travelling, particularly on rainy days, can be treacherous.
This has happened mainly because of the impounding of river water for the construction of Baglihar power project. The lake reservoir created behind the dam site has led to a situation where water constantly seeps into the adjoining hills.
Weakened by the seepage, a portion of the Batote-Doda-Kishtwar road connecting had sagged a couple of months ago. Politicians, particularly from the ruling coalition, including the Chief Minister,...

The petition interalie says that Section 47 of the Constitution of J&K makes it mandatory to hold Delimitation of the Assembly Constituencies after each census.
