Outcome of a dialogue to resolve the land row is though still keenly awaited, the Shri Amarnath Yatra Sangharsh Samiti has further intensified its agitation calling for a complete Chakka Jam (wheel halt) and shut down for Monday. The ongoing shut down which had been called till August 25 has not been extended till August 31.
Convener of the Samiti Leela Karan Sharma told a press conference here today that no vehicles, not even private vehicle shall be allowed to ply on roads tomorrow. He however offered relaxation for the ailing patients and media persons to move about the town. The Samiti has also organized a massive rally for August 27 in which top religious leaders of the country have been invited to address the people of Jammu.

Rejecting calls for separation of Jammu and Kashmir, the government has asserted that the country's territorial integrity is "non-negotiable" and the borders cannot be "altered or redrawn".
The government also ridiculed the Hurriyat Conference leaders for claiming to be the representatives of the people of Jammu and Kashmir, saying it had no justification as the separatists have never tested their popularity in elections.

The Government Medical College Hospital here today was rocked with tension when a youth was admitted after he made an abortive bid on life by consuming poison. Family members of youth claimed that he made bid on life on the Shri Amarnath Shrine land transfer issue.
