NOT A LESSER MARTYR
Amidst the deafening sound of firecrackers and aura of sweets when entire Jammu was celebrating victory on restoration of land to the Shri Amarnath Shrine Board after a historical agitation of two months, there was a silent death in one of the localities which witnessed maximum protests. This man, a father of five children, also committed suicide but proved to be a lesser martyr of agitation.
A daily bread earner, Bodh Raj of Jeewan Nagar, had had enough of fights with his family these two months when he could not earn a two square meal for them due to continuous shutdown. After the agitation was called off and Bodh Raj took the courage of picking up threads and looking at the life afresh that he had a major humiliation before him. Perhaps little was left inside him to face the situation when he consumed poison late on Thursday night and was reduced to ashes on Friday morning.
The parents who lost their only son, the wife and five children are now looking towards the Government as well as Shri Amarnath Yatra Sangharsh Samit...

Once dubbed as 'Mr 10 per cent' and a liability for his party, Asif Ali Zardari, who has spent more years behind the bars than in politics, today defied his critics by rising to occupy the post of Pakistan's President despite his tainted past.
A little-known businessman till he married Benazir Bhutto, the daughter of Pakistan's first political family, on December 18, 1987, Zardari remained in the shadows of his charismatic wife, the two-time Premier who was at the helm of affairs in the country in the 1990s.
The 53-year-old Pakistan People Party co-Chairman's elevation to the highest constitutional post has turned the tables for the wily politician who foxed his way t...
| | | | Are we headed for President’s rule? | | | | Nirbhay Jammual
If the meeting between the Election commission and political leaders from Jammu and Kashmir, due on September 8,decides in favour of postponement of Assembly Poll the state will have to be placed under the President's rule. A defermenrt by a month may not warrant imposition of the President's rule because under the state constitution the Governor's rule cannot be extended beyond the period of six months. That means the Governor's rule is to end by the third week of December. Conequently any date fixed for the polling after the third week of December will make it mandatory for the centre to impose the President's rule.
When in mid-January 1990 Governor's rule was imposed...
