ET Plus Report Rajouri, Mar 11 : Police finally apprehended a rape accused Mohammed Parveez son of Mohammed Sabar resident of Thanda Pani in Manjakote yesterday late night at border district Rajouri who impersonated as accident survivor and fled in VVIP helicopter meant to ferry leaders including Chief Minister Omar Abdullah. The district administration even gave Rs 5,000 as compensation to him. Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has been apprised of the development and he has ordered a high-level inquiry in this matter, according to reports. Sharp minded, Parveez was an accused for allegedly raping a woman in Manjakote jungle on Friday, however after the incident he got to know about a minibus accident in Mandir Gala area in which 15 people died and 24 other were injured critically. When, the administration was busy in the rescue work. The accused mingled amongst the people and began posing as a survivor. He acted as if his health was deteriorating as he cried to be taken to Jammu for treatment. This baffled policemen as they let him travel to Jammu in a VVIP chopper that ferries prominent people of the state. Reports said that rapist managed to escape on the same day from Government Medical College (GMC), Jammu where accident victims were under treatment. In this shocking incident of carelessness, the Jammu and Kashmir Police who let a rape accused flee in a VVIP helicopter finally arrested him from Manjakote area yesterday late night. However, police had also registered an FIR number-18 under section 376,323, 511,341 RPC at Manjakote police station. SHO, Manjakote said that the girl complained to the police, which started man hunt for the rapist, however, we have arrested him yesterday and started investigation against him. District Development Commissioner (DDC) Rajouri Sougat Biswas has also initiated an inquiry in this incident by constituting two- member team of ACR, Rajouri Sachin Dev Singh and SDM, Nowshera Rajeev Khajuria after the case came to the notice of Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah. "Accident had created a chaotic situation and over 10,000 people had gathered inside the hospital, where police cops and senior officer were busy on spot rendering help to accident victims and accused took the advantage of the situation" Saugat Bisws admitted. "We have also recovered compensation of rupees 5000 from him, we gave on the day and hopefully, inquiry committee will submit its report to me within two days,"Biswas added. Meanwhile, on the instruction of Health Minister, Shabir Ahmed Khan, Director Health Services, Jammu has also constituted a committee to enquire into the matter of alleged air lifting of rape accused. The Committee comprising State TB Officer, Jammu Dr. V.P. Sharma and State Veneriologist, Dr. Anoup Manahas will enquire into the incident and submit the report to the concerned within 72 hours. |
