Avinash Azad Jammu, Mar 11: Amid government claims to provide adequate ration to its citizens across the state, more than five hundred posts of storekeepers and senior assistants in Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution (CA&PD) are vacant. Official data revealed that 554 posts of storekeepers including direct quota and promotional quota in CA&PD are vacant in the state. "107 posts from promotional quota in Jammu and 273 in Kashmir are laying vacant. However, 174 posts from direct quota are also lying vacant. Where storekeepers are not available, the department finds it difficult to avoid public inconveniences", the data reveals. It further informed that department was making internal adjustment till sufficient posts were created. "About 132 vacancies of assistant storekeepers of Kashmir division from direct quota have been referred to J&K Service Selection Board and 34 vacancies are being referred. The promotional quota vacancies shall be filled up", the paper reads. The document claimed that the state government was not intending to adjust extra employees of other departments in CA&PD to overcome the shortage of storekeepers.
