| Blouria Committee report rocks LA | | Members demand implementation | | Bashir Assad Jammu, Mar 11 : Cutting across party lines, legislators in J&K Assembly on Monday agitated after they received an "unsatisfactory reply" from the government over the issue of creation of new administrative units and implementation of Blouria Committee report on the issue. During Question Hour, Jammu and Kashmir National Conference Legislator Abdul Gani Malik raised the issue of the NES blocks with more than 30 panchayats within their jurisdiction and the steps proposed to create new blocks in such areas. Not satisfied by the reply of Rural Development Minister, Ali Muhammad Sagar, members cutting across party lines agitated over what they termed delay in implementation of Blouria committee report and creation of new administrative units in the state. The Rural Development minister had to face a volley of questions from PDP, Congress, NPP, NC and BJP legislators on the issue who alleged that Blouria committee report was gathering dust in the civil secretariat and t was moving from Revenue Ministry to Rural Development Ministry without any justification. MLA Inderwal, G M Saroori alleged that there was no action on Blouria Committee report and the people were suffering a lot because of the overburdening of existing administrative blocks in the state. Qamar Ali akhoon of National Conference said the far flung areas of the state were facing problems immensely for want of new administrative units. Others who put supplementary on A G Malik's question include Javed Dar of NC and Abdul Haq Khan of PDP. Sagar while replying the questions raised on the issue said the government has constituted the committee headed by Dr. S S Blouria for "examination of demands for ne administrative units". He said the committee was empowered to recommend creation of new Blocks which will be via le and manageable. The committee, he said, has submitted its report which is being examined by the Revenue Department. However, the members not satisfied by the reply demanded implementation of the said report without any further delay. |
