ET Plus Report Jammu, Mar 11 : Raising the issue of sub-standard material being used in the electric towers in Poonch and relief to the affected families, MLA Poonch Ajaz Jan today demanded compensation to the people whose houses got damaged due to the damage caused to HT/LT Transmission lines. While raising the issue in ongoing assembly session, MLA Poonch said, "atleast 50 houses were fully damaged due to the sudden looming of the HT/LT transmission lines whereas one person also fell victim to the post affect of the snowfall in winters. Seeking compassionate compensation to the victim, he sought Rs 5 Lakh ex gratia to be released in favour of the next kin of the deceased. He also mentioned that though the District Red Cross Society has extended a financial existence of Rs 20.000 to the bereaved family yet the poor family needs to be looked upon by the state government. Further highlighting the problems of populace of his assembly constituency, MLA Poonch, Jan said, "the Transmission lines in some areas have been laid somewhere since 1947 and these worn out material needs to be replaced at earliest before it poses danger to human souls. Questioning the future of the power scenario in Poonch, MLA said, "though the government has released an allocation of Rs 3.50 Crore for the up-gradation of the damages but the work needs to be expedite to further extend respite to the affected people and to restore the smooth power in the area.' |
