Jammu, Mar 11: On the assurance of Chief Secretary Iqbal Khandey the agitating PDD causal labourers, who were on strike for the last 22 days, demanding release of their salary, have suspended their strike.
According to press release, a delegation of 200 members of All J&K PDD Casual Labour Employees under the leadership of Sayed Mohd Iqbal, Mohd Yousuf Tarigami and Akhil Sharma were called on by Chief Secretary and Principal Secretary, PDD Arun Kumar Mehta at civil secretariat.
After detailed discussion they were assured that their demands would be conceded by end of April 2013, after which the Union members decided to suspend their strike.
The Union thanked to the authorities and hoped that the commitment made by the Chief Secretary would be fulfilled by the end of April, 2013. It was also urged upon all the Casual Laborers to attend to their duties continuously and work for the department with full sincerity and dedication.
