One day Training Programme on Micro-Irrigation held

Udhampur, Mar 11: One day training programme was organized by Krishi Vigyan Kendra Reasi of Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences- Jammu under the guidance of Director Extension of Dr.K.S.Risam.
The programme was sponsored by department of floriculture. Dr.Vikas Tandon inaugurated the programme with the warm welcome of the farmers. More than 130 female farmers participated in the programme. These women are the members of more than 36 Self Help Groups. He appreciated the Self Help
Groups made by Sh.Kikar Singh. Dr.Tandon told to the female farmers that water scarcity is the major problem in Udhampur district. He advised the farmers that they should judiciously use of water. He urged the female farmers that they should use drip and sprinkler irrigation systems for the proper irrigation in their crops. Dr.Madeep Singh Azad guided the female farmers how they can get the maximum yield from their milch animals. He said that they should give balance diet to their animals in order to get the maximum milk yield from the milch animals. Dr.Banarsi Lal guided the female farmers for the formation and management of the Self Help Groups. He stressed that by forming Self Help Groups farmers can raise their socio-economic status. He told the female farmers that by forming the cooperatives they can purchase the micro-irrigation implements. He also suggested the farmers that they should take agricultural profession as an entrepreneurship. He advised that they should keep their crops free from insects, pests and diseases. He suggested that they should use proper doses of the chemicals for the treatment of various insect-pests and diseases. Sh.R.K.Sharma informed the farmers about various schemes in the floriculture. On this occasion Miss Anita Sharma, Asstt.Director, planning aware the women about the importance of such type Self Help Groups. On this occasion various Panches and Sarpanches of the area were present.
