| Jammu Bar condemns attacks on lawyers in Jaipur, Chandigarh | | | ET Plus Report
Jammu, Mar 11: The executive committee meeting of J&K High Court Bar Association, Jammu was convened today under the chairmanship of its President MK Bhardwaj here in which attacks by police on lawyers in Jaipur and Chandigarh was condemned. "There was no reason for thepolice to resort to such inhuman acts when the lawyers in Jaipur were peacefully marching towards the Assembly in support of their demands on Wednesday and thereafter on Thursday when the police entered the Civil Court campus and assaulted the lawyers as a consequence of which several lawyers' sustained injuries," the meeting observed. It was resolved in the meeting that in view of such unwarranted acts, immediate and appropriate action against the guilty police officials is required to be taken by the concerned. Further it was resolved that in order to show solidarity to lawyer fraternity of Chandigarh and Jaipur and in view of the call given by the Bar Council of India for all India strike, a one day token strike shall be observed in all the Courts including the High Court on Tuesday. The meeting was attended by officebearers of High Court Bar Association Jammu, which included senior advocate M K Bhardwaj (President), Advocate Sindhu Sharma (Vice-President), Advocate Ranjit S Jamwal (General Secretary), Advocate Prem Sadotra (Joint Secretary), Advocate Gurveer Singh (Cashier) and members of the executive committee. |
