Jammu, Mar 11: Expressing grave concern over the plight of affected families who were rendered homeless after massive landslides near Shubbu Nullah near Mir in block Pancheri, the MLC Jugal Kishore demanded further expediting the relief and rehabilitation steps so that affected could heave a sigh of relief. Raising the issue during in zero hour in the council today Jugal said, "These affected people are forced to live in the open. There is shortage of ration and other essential commodities as several panchyats' road connectivity got snapped due to the landslides. The government should provide compensation to the affected families at the earliest". Minister for R&B, Abdul Majid Wani while intervening informed that the District Administration, Udhampur has provided two month free ration to the affected people of Pancheri and further maintained that after paying on-the spot visit to the area it was observed that various roads were washed away due to heavy rains. The District Administration has been asked to provide 2 month free ration to the people of the affected area. |
