| 13 industrial units closed in Jammu | | | ET Plus Report Jammu, Mar 19 : Thirteen industrial units have been closed and one has become sick in Jammu division after the expiry of central package. Minister of State for Industries and Commerce, Sajjad Ahmed Kitchloo in a reply to the question regarding incentives for industrialization raised by NC member Vijay Bakaya informed, "Except Central Excise and Transport Industry subsidy, the incentives available to industrial units under Central Industrial Policy 2002 have expired in June 2012". He further said that after expiry of the central package, 13units have been closed and one has become sick. Similarly, one such unit which had availed subsidy under central scheme in Kashmir has been closed down. "The Department of Industries and Commerce (DIC) has taken up the issue for revival of Central Incentive Scheme (CIS) 2002 with the Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion, Government of India", he said. Minster also informed, "Even Chief Minster has written to GOI for the extension of CIS for ten more years. Our demand of Income Tax rebate was also not agreed by GOI. Again Chief Minster wrote to GOI demanding similar package as given to North-East in 2007". Bakaya while raising his supplementary said, "The taking back of incentives form the state has adversely affected our industrial growth. Our state desperately needs central assistance to revive industry in the state". |
