| Amidst unprecedented acrimony, House resolves to suspend BJP MLA for Session vAggressive posturing, suggesting violence against Sakina | | | Aman Sharma JAMMU, Mar 19: Peoples' House today resolved to suspend BJP MLA from Nagrota Jugal Kishore Sharma for rest of the Budget Session for assuming aggressive posturing, suggestive of physical assault on Minister for Social Welfare Sakina Itoo in the State Legislative Assembly today. Members from the opposition as well as treasury benches rushed to isolate Jugal, who was later marshalled out from the House. It started when Sharma, expressing his dissatisfaction over the reply of Minister for Planning Ajay Sadhotra in response to his listed question on Flyovers in Jammu city walked down in front of the Chair and started protesting alleged discrimination against Jammu. Jugal, who was followed by other members of Jammu opposition started thumping the reporters' desk, which was objected to by Sakina Itoo, who was sitting just behind him. Sakina said something to Jugal, which could not be heard, but an infuriated Jugal belligerently turned to the Minister. "Shut Up" he shouted making and advance, but was soon intercepted by the members of Opposition who were standing with him in protest. Mohammad Akbar Lone, Minister for Higher Education and Sajjad Kichloo, Minister of State for Home also stepped in to isolate the infuriated MLA. Amidst unprecedented acrimonious scenes, Speaker Mubarak Gul directed the Marshalls to evict the member from the House. While House demanded suspension of the MLA for indecent behaviour against a woman member, Minister for Finance Abdul Rahim Rather suggested that a resolution be brought in the House seeking the same. The Speaker who first announced suspension of Jugal Kishore for one week, had to put forth the resolution later proposed by Indu Pawar of the Congress to the House which was accented to by the members of the ruling coalition as entire opposition had already staged a walk out. |
