| Assembly turns 'battle ground' for coalition allies | | As Sham, Bhalla threaten to 'pull out', NC ministers say 'go ahead…' | | ET Plus Report JAMMU, Mar 19: The pestering differences between coalition partners today came into open when a couple of Congress Ministers openly expressed their resentment to Er. Rashid getting away unharmed despite a prolonged anti India showdown in the State Legislative Assembly. They also expressed reservation over House being adjourned frequently after disruption by Rashid and other members in the treasury benches over Afzal Guru issue. Agitated Congress even threatened to 'pull out' only to be responded with anger from NC ministers who asked Congress ministers that they 'were free to go wherever they wished …'. After the House was adjourned following pandemonium during question hour, Sham Lal Sharma, Minister for PHE and Raman Bhalla, Minister for Housing expressed their resentment in open. "India and Indian constitution are being abused here every day..... we cannot accept this anymore" Sham Lal said. As Sham Lal raised his pitch over disruption and frequent adjournments , he addressed to two senior ministers Ali Mohammad Sagar and AR Rather , asserting, "It would be "difficult for us to be a part of this government (apparently with reference to National Conference) ……all constitutional norms were thrown to winds …and if this continues we cannot continue like this", the Congress minister added. He was soon joined by another minister Raman Bhalla and few legislators of the party in echoing this sentiment. Raman Bhalla also while addressing AR Rather said that this could not be tolerated any more. His resentment was however countered by Mohammad Akbar Lone, who said, "This is your choice nobody is stopping you". He was joined by NA Gurezi and Sajjad Kichloo who shouted back taking on Sham Lal. As Sham Lal's remarks irked Lone first, Nazir Gurezi too countered him who reacted in similar tone. "Stop blackmailing NC….you are free to snap ties any time….", he uttered. Even as Surjit Singh Slathia and Bimla Luthra of the National Conference and Mohammad Sharief Niaz and GM Saroori from the Congress also openly resented Er. Rashid's behaviour and statements made by him from the Well of the House, what became conspicuous was the bickering between the NC and Congress ministers until Minister for Parliamentary affairs, Mir Saifffulah later walked to Sham Lal Sharma in a bid to pacify him. It is pertinent to mention here that while Congress more or less stayed quiet over the turn of events that succeeded execution of Parliament attack convict Afzal Guru insides the Assembly and elsewhere, Sham Lal has raised his voice against the attempts made by several members of the House to glorify Afzal Guru. "He was a terrorists and not a martyr" Sham has repeatedly said on the floor of the House. |
