| "Militants infiltrated across LoC in Jan, Feb": IGP | | Bemina attack, Guru's execution not remotely related | | Javaid Naikoo Srinagar, Mar 19 : Rejecting all the speculations that the militants carried out the Fidayeen attack in Bemina in which five CRPF personnel were killed to revenge the execution of Mohammad Afzal Guru in Tihar Jail, Jammu and Kashmir Police today claimed that they have solved the case in which four persons have been arrested with huge arms and ammunitions. "We have solved the case and the main intention of militants for carrying out the attack was to disrupt the normal life and for that CRPF personnel in close proximity to youngsters playing cricket were purposefully chosen as a soft target to inflict maximum damage and had the potential to lead to civilian causalities as well." IGP Kashmir, Abdul Gani Mir said in a press conference in Srinagar. He said that Militants had infiltrated from across the border in the months of January and February this year and It was a module of three militants who had crossed across the LoC. He identified the two militants, who carried out the attack and got killed in retaliatory firing of forces as Saif from Dera Ghazi Khan and Hyder of Multan Pakistan on the instructions of Ahmad Bhai of Lashker-e-Toiba (LeT) Operation Chief and another commander Anees Bilal. Replying to a question that there were speculations in national media that militants had carried out the attack to revenge execution of Guru, IGP said that police had not anything during their investigation untill now. The IGP identified the arrested militants, who had allegedly provided the support for carrying out the attack as Mohammad Zubiar alias Talha Zaraar of Multan Pakistan, and Bashir Ahmad Mir alias Haroon of Uri. "Mir was a released militant, who earlier used to work for HM, later joined the Al-Badar outfit. Zubair was arrested in one of the houses in Chattabal locality. He also clarified that no arrested person in this case was working with any agency. According to the IGP, the other persons who had provided the militants the logistic support are, Pradeep Singh, who works sanitary inspector in Health Department and Mukhtar Shah, a released militant. He made it clear that they have no inputs of possible such attacks in future. "You know the intention of militants. But we are ready to take care off if such attacks takes place in future," he said. He said the situation in the Valley is getting better. He declined to comment on CRPF Director General that CRPF will follow its existing standard operating procedures (SOPs) while rendering operational duties in the Kashmir saying, "DG CRPF has clarified the point." Earlier militants had carried out the Fidayeen attack in Bemina, in which five CRPF were killed and other 10 received injuries including four civilians and two militants were also killed in the retaliatory firing of forces. Meanwhile, police in a press statement said during investigation, arms and ammunition in huge quantity have been recovered upon disclosures made by the arrested militants. "These include two AK 47's (with eight Magazines), 240 AK Rounds, one UBGL, 40 Rifle Grenades, 40 Hand Grenades, two Pouches, two Anti Tank Mines, 12 RC's, one Map, Two light bags, three GPS devices, two Compasses, two wireless sets, two Time Bombs (Charge, Timer and Detonators), Pencil Cell Batteries and a transparent poly - pack containing " Made in Pakistan" medicines and ointment. The investigation of the case has been entrusted to a Special Investigation Team," police said. |
