| Advocate-cum-BJP leader slapped at Court complex, accused booked | | Another incident of assault | | ET Plus Report JAMMU, Mar 19: In another incident, an advocate who also happens to be a senior leader of Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) was today forcibly stopped and slapped by a turban-clad youth in the parking area of the District Court Complex, here today morning. However, soon after the incident, Janipur police immediately swung into action and caught hold of the youth and was arrested under different sections of law. Sources in Police Department revealed that "one advocate Chander Mohan Sharma, when reached in the parking area on his two-wheeler, he was stopped by a youth identified as one Sarabjit Singh son of Amarjit Singh and resident old Janipur. When Sharma sought to know the reasons, he was asked to pay parking fee. The moment, Sharma informed him that he was a lawyer, the youth immediately slapped him and also broke his spectacle." When Chander Mohan Sharma raised alarm, the youth pushed him aside and tried to escape from the parking area. However, the police personnel of Janipur Police Station arrested him after a little chase. Soon after receiving the information of another incident of a lawyer beaten up by some person, number of lawyers rushed to the spot and inquired the matter. The lawyers demanded immediate arrest of the accused. A case under Sections 341 and 323 has been registered against Sarabjit Singh. |
